Interested in learning more about our Catholic Faith? We are proud to announce that Canadian Martyrs will be hosting Bishop Lobsinger for “Evenings with His Excellency” on the second Friday of each month from 7:00 – 8:30 pm.
Each month we will methodically go through the “Catechism of the Catholic Church”. There is no registration, no fee and no homework. Come ready to learn and ask all the questions you always wanted to ask about our Catholic Faith.
The first “Evening with His Excellency” is
Friday, September 10, 2021.
If you are unable to attend in person, you can still join via live stream!
(All COVID 19 protocols will be required, including masks while in the church and proper social distancing.)

Liturgy... what is it? Is it a celebration? a feeling or a mood? a ceremonial occasion?
Does it consist of guidelines? books of worship? vestments or processions? music and singing?
Is it people? Is it prayer? Is it our action, or is it the Lord's?
Short answer, yes! Liturgy involves each of these, and much more.

For longer answers on Liturgy (and perhaps other topics that might arise), join Father Markus on the 4th Friday of every month for Friday Evenings with Father from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
If you are unable to attend in person, join us via the live stream!

Without your gifts, Canadian Martyrs would not be able to have any impact or influence in our community. Because of you, we’re able to continue our chaplaincy work with the University and McMaster Children’s Hospital and to offer formation experiences that encourage and deepen the faith lives of those in our community, and beyond.
The Mass on Friday, September 3, will be said for your intentions.

Great thanks to all for your continuing contributions, especially those who have signed up for recurring donations through our website. We continue to need your support. For those who prefer to donate through weekly envelopes, these can be dropped off at Mass on Sunday, or into the office mailbox (which is located just to the right of the school-facing side door of the office building)!

Beginning on Thursday, September 9, Canadian Martyrs McMaster Chaplaincy will be hosting weekly undergrad dinners, followed by compline.
The focus is on fellowship with these dinners; the purpose is just to enjoy a meal in the company of your fellow undergrads and to get to know everyone a little better!

Another school year is about to begin! As students come to campus for the first time in over a year, we are doing what we can to reach out to the Catholics who we hope to welcome to our faith community at Canadian Martyrs. On Saturday, September 4th, the McMaster Chaplaincy will be hosting Daylight, an outreach event for incoming and returning students. We will be speaking with students on the street and inviting them into the Church to learn about the chaplaincy and to pray.
In the Church we will have four hours of Adoration, from 1pm (after mass) until benediction at 5pm.
We are inviting everyone in our faith community to attend. Please come and pray for the students, for our outreach efforts, and for the soon-to-be new members of our faith community: they are coming to the neighbourhood, but we need to invite them and welcome them in!

It's still a little spare in the Student Centre and Administration offices, but there are at least two new developments! At each of the entrances, we have these beautiful new displays. Be sure to check these out for upcoming events, news, weekly Mass intentions, a quote from the weekly gospel message, and much more!
And, we've also repurposed a vintage sedilia for the reception area! Now visitors will have somewhere to sit while they wait to meet with Fr. Markus, Sr. Mary, or Paul!
BONUS QUESTION!! The first person to email us with the reason why there are openings at the back of the bench will win a Starbucks or Tim Hortons coffee (in the form of a gift card) on us!
