Good morning!

Welcome to week 2 of Lent. Looking for a special way to observe Lent this year? Why not try “feasting” on some of the beautiful writings that Popes Francis and Benedict have given us. Try reading even one chapter from a particular letter and ponder the message in it.

A simple letter to spend some reflection time with is Pope Francis’ Lenten message for this year. Here is an excerpt

This past fall, Pope Francis shared his most recent encyclical called Fratelli Tutti. The Hamilton diocese Chancery office is offering a 4 week opportunity to explore the document together during in March. Here is the link to check this Lenten program out:

From Pope Emeritus Benedict we suggest Caritas Deus Est ‘God is Love’ his first encyclical:

Faith, which sees the love of God revealed in the pierced heart of Jesus on the Cross, gives rise to love. Love is the light—and in the end, the only light—that can always illuminate a world grown dim and give us the courage needed to keep living and working. Love is possible, and we are able to practise it because we are created in the image of God. To experience love and in this way to cause the light of God to enter into the world—this is the invitation I would like to extend with the present Encyclical.
