Baptism of the Lord

And a voice came from heaven, “You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased.”
We know that the news that we would no longer be able to post Masses from Canadian Martyrs wasn't welcome news. Because we still desire, as you do, for a means of connecting with the faith community, Fr. Markus will be recording reflections that will be shared weekly. We hope that they will be a still meaningful replacement for our recorded Masses. Be sure to check our website weekly to watch!
Join our community in visiting other parish communities!  So much good is happening throughout the church in this time of need and so we will be offering live-stream feeds and websites from other parishes throughout this time of lockdown, in addition to Fr Markus’ own weekly reflections.  Join us in finding the Lord in so many places, until we can come to our spiritual home again!

This week, watch the Mass for the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord as celebrated at Our Lady Of Guadalupe in Halifax Nova Scotia!
It will be broadcast at 11:00 am on January 10, 2021.
Watch Here
Also, Mass from the Cathedral Basilica will be televised on Cable 14 at 2:00 p.m. on Sundays.

Although the office is closed, and not receiving visitors, the 2021 Sunday offering envelopes can still be picked up! Please let the office know when you would like to come by, and we can make arrangements for you to pick up your envelopes from the trailer mailbox!
Although we don't yet have any photos of it to share, the interior temporary wall that separated the church from the new building is down! The two have become one! Hopefully, we'll have photographic evidence soon, but in the meantime, you can check out the other pics on our website of the building progress!
━ Ask Yourself...
 What a Saint Said...
We are restarting the Catholic Café! Every TuesdayWednesday, and Thursday we will meet as a Chaplaincy from 3-4 pm. The Catholic Café is where you can regularly meet with Fr. Markus, Sr. Mary, and Paul to chat, discuss, ask questions, and be a part of life at the Chaplaincy. Bring your favourite hot beverage and your questions. All are welcome!
Join us via Zoom at this link: https://tinyurl.com/cathcafe
Over the Christmas Break, over 30 McMaster students participated virtually in Rise Up, a national young adult conference hosted by Catholic Christian Outreach. Participants listened to six inspiring talks about growing in relationship with Christ and evangelization, and each day our McMaster students got together online to debrief what they had learned and enjoy each other’s company and have fun! Who knew an online conference could allow for such growth in faith and community!

~Morality of COVID Vaccines~
Though we find ourselves in the middle of yet another lock-down, coronavirus, Covid-19 vaccines are being discussed and administered, and are offering some hope for a way forward. That being said important questions are being raised regarding the morality of these vaccines and the complicated bioethical issues that may arise from their development and testing. The Vatican has prepared a summary document (read it here). While it cannot answer all questions, especially the differences between vaccines from various companies, hopefully, it can help us to understand better the moral implications of this next step in the fight against the coronavirus.  Have a read and feel free to send in any questions. Fr Markus will do his best to answer; he’s got friends in high places, of Moral Theology scholarship anyway!
Re: Start – Starting over after separation or divorce with support, care and tools for the journey - We invite you to visit the Family Ministry Office on the Diocesan website https://hamiltondiocese.com/ to see the programs offered and to register. If you have questions, call the Family Ministry Office at 905-528-7988 ext. 2249.
~Year of Joseph~
With the Apostolic Letter “Patris corde” (“With a Father’s Heart”), Pope Francis recalls the 150th anniversary of the declaration of Saint Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church. To mark the occasion, the Holy Father has proclaimed a “Year of Saint Joseph” from 8 December 2020, to 8 December 2021.

If you would like to have a Mass celebrated for a special occasion, on behalf of a family member, a friend, or a deceased loved one, please call the office to have that intention put into the calendar.
