I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

KEY DATES:
Father Markus consecrated our Church and our community to the intercession of the Blessed Mother, especially during this time of need. He invites you to join with him to consecrate your homes, your own families, and our community to the blessed mother's intercession. Please click the image to watch the video of that consecration.

Coronavirus: God Can You Hear Us?
Here is a thoughtful reflection on prayer during these times from Nicky Gumbel, the founder of Alpha. Nicky is the Vicar of Holy Trinity Brompton Anglican Church in London, England. For those of you who have experienced the Alpha course or anyone who is asking questions about God’s presence during these days of the pandemic, click on the link to listen to Nicky reflect on this question.
Do you miss your weekly connection with our faith community at Canadian Martyrs? We’re excited to announce two ways the community is coming to you!
Firstly, we’ll be sharing testimonies and experiences from members of our community, as they reflect on the unfolding of this time of living through the pandemic.
Secondly, some of our wonderful community members have responded to the call to connect with you by phone; community reaching out to community! We hope you look forward to their call and enjoy this opportunity to connect. The calls will be happening over the next few weeks.

Thank you to everyone who donated last week to our collection, 10% of which will be going to Ronald McDonald House. We thank you for your continued support!

This week, 10% of all donations received will be directed to Catholic Family Services. Catholic Family Services, guided by Catholic values and principles, provides counselling, community connection and education programs so that the quality of life of all people in our diverse community may be improved and strengthened.

Saint
Arnold of Soissons is the patron saint of hop-pickers and Belgian brewers. He is often portrayed carrying a Bishop's mitre, and a mash rake (a tool used in the process of brewing and distilling). He saved lives due to his habit of encouraging local peasants to drink beer (due to its "gift of health") instead of water. During the brewing process, the water was boiled, killing pathogens that were spreading illness.  One of the miracles that was attributed to him on his canonisation, was when a monastery's beer supply — destroyed after part of its roof collapsed — was miraculously restored after his prayer!
So now you know!

Fourth Sunday of Easter
The Good Shepherd calls his own sheep by name and leads them. Is He asking you to help others to find Him? Pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood, especially for the Diocese of Hamilton, that God will raise up good shepherds in our midst. If God is calling you, contact Fr. Michael King, Vocation Director, Diocese of Hamilton at 905-528-7988 or vocations@hamiltondiocese.com.

We've made it easier for you to request Mass intentions! Father Markus is including all requested intentions in his daily private Mass, so if you'd like to request intentions, please do! Click the image to go to a new section on the website where you can make on-line requests. You can even send your stipend (optional, suggested $10) electronically! Or you can drop it in the office mailbox (Tues 1- 3; Thurs 10 - 12).
If you would like to have a Mass celebrated for a special occasion, on behalf of a family member, a friend, or a deceased loved one, please call the office to have that intention put into the calendar.

Please rest assured that Fr. Markus is honouring these intentions in his daily private Mass.
