We've been getting some positive feedback about the weekly update these days, so thank you very much! Either we're doing a bang-up job here, or else you all really hold to the adage "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." Generally, that's a good philosophy, but we DO want your feedback, good or bad, on this update. Unlike those 10 commandments, these updates aren't written in stone — they will grow and evolve... as should we all. So please feel free to email us with your (kind and constructive) critiques, and with your glowing praise! Not gonna lie, we like praise best...
TLDR; need the highlights? Here they are:
CWL • Ministry to the SickCatholic Cafe • All Souls Day • From the Diocese • Did You Know • Liturgy Schedule

The C.W.L. would like  to thank everyone who donated to the upcoming Christmas Fair.

Your support is so appreciated!

Be sure to save the date!

You can look forward to prizes, crafts, and delicious baked goods!

This year, the fair will be held in the Canadian Martyrs Elementary School gym.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to the Sick bring the comfort of Christ in the form of the Eucharist to those who cannot come to Church. In this way, the sick and homebound are united to the Body of Christ present in our community.

We ask you to prayerfully consider if God is calling you to serve in this most needed ministry here at Canadian Martyrs. Please call 905-528-4632, or email if you are able to fill this need.
🚨Attention Mac students, faculty and staff: BAKED GOODS ALERT🚨
Don't miss the Catholic Cafe on Friday, November 1st from 10:30am to 11:30am, in MUSC 230. Come by for free coffee, snacks, and great conversation about relevant Catholic topics.

On, Saturday, November 2, there will be two special All Souls Day Masses. You are invited to join us here at Canadian Martyrs Church in remembering those who have died, and to pray for the holy souls of our loved ones.

All Souls Day Masses

Relics of Saint Francois de Laval

On the Feast of Christ the King (November 24, 2019) the Cathedral Basilica will host the relic of Saint Francois de Laval – the first Bishop of Quebec (and indeed of Canada). There will be an opportunity to venerate the relic at each of the Masses on that weekend. The current Archbishop of Quebec, and the Primate of Canada, His Eminence Cardinal Lacroix will preach at all Masses on the weekend. All are welcome!

The common misconception is that Halloween's origins are entirely pagan in nature, and while the current observation of Halloween has definitely taken on contemporary pagan connotations "...the true substance of Halloween belongs to the Church. Halloween (or “All Hallows Eve”) is the festive precursor to the celebration of the Church’s public commemoration of All Saints Day." Read more about it here!
