TLDR; need the highlights? Here they are:
TriChaplaincy Pilgrimage • Alpha •  CWL  • Happy Birthmonth • Ministry to the Sick • From the Diocese • Did You Know?
Unless you've been out of town (or under a rock) you must have heard about the Tri-Chaplaincy Pilgrimage that took place on October 6! We are so pleased to be able to provide you with access to a recording of Dr. Powell's talk! Click here to watch the unedited footage!
Alpha is a series of interactive sessions exploring the basics of the Christian faith. Each session looks at a different question and is designed to create conversation. There’s no pressure, just an open, informal, and honest space to explore and discuss life’s big questions together.

Alpha Week 3 is this Sunday, October 20, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am.

Start the day with a delicious (and varied! Look forward to some quiche this weekend) breakfast  followed by a short, thought-provoking video "Why did Jesus die?", and then small group discussion.

Christmas Fair Collection Weekend

A reminder that the CWL are gratefully accepting prizes and craft donations for the Christmas fair on October 19 and 20 before Mass in the church meeting room.

If you have any questions, please contact Dorothy at 905-628-1657.
Happy Birthmonth Father Markus!

We wish you good health, happiness, and lots of beautiful things in this world and hereafter.
(And yes... that is a birthday Sausage McMuffin and not a birthday cake... )
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to the Sick bring the comfort of Christ in the form of the Eucharist to those who cannot come to Church. In this way, the sick and home bound are united to the Body of Christ present in our community. We ask you to prayerfully consider if God is calling you to serve in this most needed ministry here at Canadian Martyrs. Please contact us at 905-528-4632, or email at canadianmartyrshamilton@hamiltondiocese.com.

WORLD MISSION SUNDAY is celebrated this Sunday, October 20th! This year it is marked in the context of the Extraordinary Mission Month which was inaugurated by Pope Francis on October 1st. “The missionary mandate touches us personally: I am a mission, always; you are a mission, always; every baptized man and woman is a mission. People in love never stand still: they are drawn out of themselves; they are attracted and attract others in turn; they give themselves to others and build relationships that are life-giving. As far as God’s love is concerned, no one is useless or insignificant. Each of us is a mission to the world, for each of us is the fruit of God’s love!” (Excerpt from Pope Francis’ letter of June 9, 2019, Pentecost Sunday, in which he convoked the Extraordinary Mission Month.)

In 1962, Lou Groen, a franchise owner in Cincinnati, Ohio, noticed that Fridays were not good for his hamburger sales. His franchise was located in a predominantly Roman Catholic neighbourhood, so he created the Filet o' Fish to make sure that Catholics were getting under those golden arches every day of the week...

So now you know!
