Not to toot our own horns or anything, but what an absolute blessing the Tri-Chaplaincy event was! From top to bottom, it was incredible. If you haven't been into St. Mary's Pro-Cathedral, you should, it is breathtaking! Beautiful venue, nuggets of lore from Fr. Markus (ask him about the search for who was buried at St. Mary's...) , exceptional speaker, invigorating talk, invested participants, invaluable Church community volunteers (HUGE shout out!) AND the A/V system worked without a hitch. If that's not evidence of God's presence, I don't know what is...

TLDR; need the highlights? Here they are:
TriChaplaincy Pilgrimage • Alpha •  CWL  • Thanksgiving • Condolences • From the Diocese • Did You Know?
Our Senior Leadership Team with our esteemed speaker Dr. Scott Powell! Our deepest gratitude to Dr. Powell for his inspiring talk, to our SLT who organized and ran the incredible event, and all the young adults and students who attended! Check out the Mac contingency below!

Already looking forward to next year's Tri-Chaplaincy Pilgrimage! Over to you, University of Guelph!

Alpha is a series of interactive sessions exploring the basics of the Christian faith. Each session looks at a different question and is designed to create conversation. There’s no pressure, just an open, informal, and honest space to explore and discuss life’s big questions together.

Alpha Week 2 is this Sunday, October 13, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am.

Start the day with a delicious breakfast (and we do mean delicious; this week it's fresh strawberries and waffles with hickory-smoked bacon!) followed by a short, thought-provoking video "Who Is Jesus?", and then small group discussion.

Christmas Fair Collection Weekend

A reminder that the CWL are gratefully accepting prizes and craft donations for the Christmas fair on October 19 and 20 before Mass in the church meeting room.

If you have any questions, please contact Dorothy at 905-628-1657.
Prayer for Gratitude Toward Our Heavenly Father

I am so grateful for everything that You have given me. Thank you so much for the loved ones in my life, and for the many ways in which I am cared for and supported on a day to day basis. Thank you for the many ways I can serve and give to others. Thank you for the rich tapestry of colors throughout creation, for the beauty that is all around me, and for the skies and the ever-changing environment that surrounds me. My heart is so grateful for all that You have bestowed me within my life. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. It is in Your name that I sing my praises!
AMEN

Our deepest condolences are with Deacon Joseph and his family as they mourn the loss of his father, Franco. We pray for the comfort and grace of the Holy Spirit to be upon them as they navigate this difficult time.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Wishing McMaster students a restful, relaxing and rejuvenating reading week! Students, please don't forget, that while it is important to use this time to catch up on school work, it is equally important to invest in some self-care! Remember, you cannot pour from an empty cup!

BLESSED CARDINAL JOHN HENRY NEWMAN WILL BE CANONIZED ON SUNDAY  by Pope Francis at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. Thousands of pilgrims are making their way from England and more specifically from the Diocese of Birmingham. The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Anglican Church of Canada have issued a joint statement of thanksgiving for his Christian witness to the world. The statement is signed by Archbishop Richard Gagnon, President of the CCCB, and Archbishop Linda Nicholls, Primate of the ACC.

Officially known as Promoter of the Faith (Promotor Fidei), the Devil's Advocate is appointed to present arguments against a proposed beatification or the canonization of a beatus. Essentially, when someone is being considered for Sainthood, it is the Advocatus Diaboli who takes a second look at all their life's works.

So now you know!
