A Series of Informative Videos on Synodality
The Hamilton Diocese's Office for Evangelization and Catechesis has produced a series of short, informative videos on various topics and themes that have been highlighted in the Instrumentum Laboris, in connection with the work of the Assembly of Bishops currently taking place in Rome during the Synod on Synodality. These videos, each less than 4 minutes long, feature a variety of voices, including Bishop Crosby, expert theologians, religious, young people, educators, and the laity. They aim to provide a deeper understanding of the issues being discussed at the Synod on Synodality and offer questions for reflection and consideration.
The Synod on Synodality is a global gathering of Catholic clergy and laypeople, including bishops and other church officials, to discuss and resolve questions of discipline or administration. The videos produced by the Hamilton Diocese's Office for Evangelization and Catechesis serve as a valuable resource for parishioners to engage with these important topics.
So far, they have posted three videos, and a new one will be posted every Monday in October:
The Church as a Place of Welcome: In this video, theologian David Wells reflects on the Church as a place of welcome, highlighting the importance of hospitality in our understanding of communion, participation, and mission
The Dignity of Baptism: Explore the responsibility of Baptism and how we are all called to participate in the Synodal journey as members of Christ's Church
Building an Open and Welcoming Church: Discover the nature of Christianity as a call to build a community that lives and bears witness to understanding the relationship between the Church and the world
These videos can be viewed here, or accessed on the Hamilton Diocese's website. There, they are accompanied by questions for reflection and consideration, providing you with an opportunity to engage more deeply with the topics discussed.
We encourage all members of our parish to watch these informative videos and participate in the discussions surrounding the Synod on Synodality. By deepening our understanding of these important issues, we can contribute to the growth and development of our Church.
