24th Sunday in Ordinary Time

“You are the Messiah” ... the Son of Man must undergo great suffering,
DATES OF NOTE:
Yesterday, Canadian Martyrs hosted the first "Evening with his Excellency." Bishop Lobsinger began his teaching series on the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The event was well attended both in-person and on our live stream. Bishop Lobsinger will be coming once a month as we continue to work our way through the teachings of the Church.

The next Evening will take place on October 8!
We're still in the process of rolling out the invitations to the Realm system, so if you haven't yet gotten yours, and you want to be an early adopter, let us know so we can get that invite out to you!

Privacy concerns? Here's some information that's sure to set your mind at ease:

Still looking for volunteers!

We promise that it's easy as pie, and you'll be thoroughly trained in the process!
Please contact Erin in the office to let us know you can help!

Great thanks to all for your continuing contributions, especially those who have signed up for recurring donations through our website.  We continue to need your support.  For those who prefer to donate through weekly envelopes, these can be dropped off at Mass on Sunday, or into the office mailbox (which is located just to the right of the school-facing side door of the office building)!
Welcome Week is over, but the year is just beginning! Last Saturday we hosted Daylight, an outreach event for students new to Mac. We followed up on Sunday and Monday with tabling outside the church. Several dozen students stopped by to chat, pray in the church, and sign up to join our community of faith! Thank you for your prayers and support as we reach out to the newest members of our community!
Our first student family dinner has come and gone! New and returning students came to Canadian Martyrs this past Thursday to share a meal together in fellowship. The SLT hosted and served Indian curry, and Sr. Mary baked up a storm for dessert. We are planning on sharing a meal together as a student community every week of the term. Next week our student leaders will prepare and host dinner!

Have a Question?         Need prayer?         Confession?

Each Tuesday in September, Father Markus will be at the Emerson street entrance to the Student Centre. Come by and say hi between 1:30 and 2:30 pm!

Does anyone want to guess when a woolly hat and scarf might make their first appearance? Will it be at all this September??
Every day we are a little closer to being done!

Last week, Father Markus and Paul went on a little shopping trip to kit out the student centre kitchen with supplies in preparation for use, and for the weekly dinners (top image)!  We've also got real honest-to-goodness office phones installed (2nd image), and Father, Paul and Erin went on a little field trip last week to a furniture manufacturer to make some final decisions on materials (last image). What you see here are some of our final decisions, and some of the elements we are still considering!
If you would like to have a Mass celebrated for a special occasion, on behalf of a family member, a friend, or a deceased loved one, please contact the office to have that intention put into the calendar.
