11th Sunday of Ordinary Time

...become the greatest of all shrubs...
DATES OF NOTE:
June 17: Credible Catholicism: Anthropology (Who Are We?)

We regret to inform you that Reverend John Joseph (Jack) Hurley, CSB, died at the Basilian Fathers’ Retirement Community in Scarborough on Saturday, June 5, 2021.  Father Hurley served at St. Mary Parish in Owen Sound and was chaplain at our own McMaster University from 1990-2006.  Fr. Jack is remembered well for his joy and dedication to our university and his collaboration with many who remain involved in our community.

Mass on Holy Thursday each year is offered for the deceased pastors and chaplains of Canadian Martyrs and McMaster, in addition, we will book a Mass in the coming weeks for Fr. Jack.  If you would like to offer a Mass in his memory please book your intention here.  You can also send a note to Fr. Jack’s community and family through the funeral website/obituary below.

This Thursday!
Be sure to join us via live stream for the first lecture in our Credible Catholicism series.
The speaker is Fr. Paul Pearson, Provost of The Toronto Oratory, and you'll be able to submit questions via the live stream!
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Canadian Martyrs Musical Gifts Inventory! We received multiple submissions from parishioners who are blessed with musical talent! Our music ministers will be reviewing the submissions and discerning what best next steps to take to grow the music ministry within our community. Stay tuned! (No pun intended!) ;)

Now that we have resumed public Masses, we invite you to attend in person if you are able and comfortable doing so. If you still prefer to attend virtually,  beginning today, June 13, Sunday Mass will be live-streamed at 11:30 am.
WATCH HERE (Live at 11:30 am)
Our mission continues!  Great thanks to all for your continuing contributions, especially those who have signed up for recurring donations through our website.  We continue to need your support.  For those who prefer to donate through weekly envelopes, these can be dropped off at Mass on Sunday, or into the office mailbox (which is located just to the right of the school-facing side door of the office building)!

Another set of doors this week! These ones, however, are interior doors, and they separate the offices and student center from the side entrance of the church.

Be sure to check out the website for more pictures of the progress!

If you would like to have a Mass celebrated for a special occasion, on behalf of a family member, a friend, or a deceased loved one, please contact the office to have that intention put into the calendar.

PARENTING TIP OF THE MONTH - Parenting Tip 130
June is a good time to help your children reflect on the successes and challenges of the past school year.  God provides every person with gifts to use in the world and it is good to remind your children that we are called to use our God-given gifts. Ask them to reflect on the gifts they see in themselves and share the gifts you see in them. Help them realize that they are indeed special and have good things to offer to others in their lives.
