Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ

I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever...
As you've probably heard by now, the provincial government has announced that churches across Ontario are permitted to re-open. While we are as excited as you are to be able to participate in Mass as a community once again, please be advised that there will be many accommodations that will need to be made in order to ensure everyone's safety. Attending Mass will be a different experience than we are all used to. Please stay tuned to our social media, website, and your inbox for more news and updates, as we carefully evaluate and implement our re-opening strategies!
We do know that we will need volunteers to usher and sanitize the pews between Masses. If you can serve in this ministry contact Sr. Mary by email (mmcintyre@csjcanada.org) for further details!
On Friday, June 12th, twenty-three wonderful student leaders got together with Fr. Markus, Sister Mary and Rachael on Zoom for an online leaders' retreat. It was amazing to see so many faces, familiar and new, to pray together and to lean into the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. During the retreat, we were reminded of foundational aspects of living out our identity as children of God being grounded and formed through our encounters with the love of Jesus, and the deep call of our baptism to share the Gospel with all those around us! It was invigorating to be together and to hear our students share their stories, experiences and challenges. We know the Lord has amazing plans for the year ahead with these young people, and we can't wait to see where the Holy Spirit leads us!

A very special thank you goes out to Joshua Osoria and Sarah Mandarano, our incredible student presidents, who worked tirelessly with Rachael to make this retreat happen!!

Please pray for our student leaders, that the Lord would bless them with courage, joy and all the graces they need as they respond to His call to serve and lead next year!
Our former campus minister, and Mass accompanists Kathleen & Jesse (with their son Noah) chat with Sr. Mary about how life has and hasn't changed since the lockdown, and how the creativity of Churches and people in response to the pandemic has been a blessing that they hope continues in the "after".
On one hand, the gradual re-opening of our lives is a blessing, but it can also bring with it its own set of challenges. Check out this article on grounding and self-soothing strategies, for when you are dealing with stress or anxiety.
This week, 10% of our collection will be going to the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO). In addition to running athletics and sports activities with the HWCDSB, they operate two summer camps, Camp Marydale and Camp Brebreuf, which, due to current circumstances are experiencing some financial hardship. The C.Y.O. has been shut down since March 13, 2020. This includes all Crusader Athletics and Outdoor Education Programs and resulted in 80% of their full time and contract staff being laid off. On Tuesday, May 19, 2020 the Provincial Government made the decision to cancel all overnight camping programs for the summer of 2020, with a potential for day camps to operate under strict guidelines. With the loss of their spring and likely fall Outdoor Education Program, as well as the overnight program at Camp Brébeuf for the summer of 2020, the future existence of the entire Agency (the C.Y.O.) is jeopardy.

The Source of Peace

Everyone, at some point in their life, has found peace in finite things. We’ve all done it. We have found our peace and happiness in our jobs, our lifestyle, our everyday routine. But for many of us, our sources of peace have been stripped away. All the things we find solace and happiness have gone away. But there is still peace left to be discovered. Jesus is the only One who can offer us everlasting peace that does not shift with the tides but remains steady through everything. There is no peace apart from Jesus. So when all sense of security is taken away, Jesus’ peace remains. Steadfast and ready to find you.

It's fair to say that Catholicism's relationship to wine through the Eucharist was a significant factor in the creation of many of the world's best alcoholic beverages. Dom Pérignon (the premium Champagne) was named after Dom Pierre Pérignon, a Benedictine Monk who was instrumental in the development of the sparkly beverage!

Body and Blood of Christ
Jesus has given us His Body to eat and His Blood to drink to nourish us on our journey towards the Kingdom. May we be faithful to him on our journey. If God is calling you to the priesthood,  contact Fr. Michael King, Vocation Director, Diocese of Hamilton at 905-528-7988 or vocations@hamiltondiocese.com.

If you would like to have a Mass celebrated for a special occasion, on behalf of a family member, a friend, or a deceased loved one, please call the office to have that intention put into the calendar.
