Milestone Achieved!

Canadian Martyrs is the FIRST parish that launched this fall to reach the milestone of achieving the threshold needed to receive $50,000 in matching funds! And that's with only 13% participation! Can you imagine what we could achieve with even just 50% participation! Keep in mind that the amount given isn't as important as the symbolism of stewardship.

As was announced last weekend, $105,000 has already been pledged! Fr. Markus will have another exciting new update for us this weekend at Mass!

Q: Why does the Diocese need a campaign? Isn’t it already financially sound?

A: Yes, the Diocese is financially sound, and that stability is allowing the Diocese to conduct a campaign that focuses on the needs of parishes, while also enhancing some diocesan ministries. The campaign is part of the long-term vision for the Diocese, a vision of a thriving Diocese supporting thriving parishes working to draw more people closer to Christ. The campaign has the potential to renew struggling parishes and to make strong parishes stronger.

Food Drive for Ronald McDonald House
Thank you to everyone who donated to the food drive! Everything was dropped off at RMH on Thursday afternoon, and they were very pleased to have received your donations!
Prayer Upon Masking

Below is a special prayer upon masking, that has been provided to healthcare workers at St. Joseph's hospital, and we invite all healthcare workers, and indeed everyone, to make use of as we may struggle with the difficulties of the new realities we find ourselves navigating.

May I see the holy moment in the wearing of this cloth
—a sign to the world that I care—
a tangible and visible way of living my love for my neighbours, as I love myself.

Since my lips will be covered, may I uncover my heart,
that people would see my smile in the crinkles around my eyes.
Since my voice may be muffled, may I speak clearly,
not only with my words, but with my actions.
As the elastic touches my ears, may I listen carefully —
may I be full of care— for all those I meet.

May this simple people of cloth be shield and banner,
and each breath that it holds, be filled with divine love.
By all that I hold sacred, by love that is intended,
I say these things, I take this action.
May it be so. May it be so.

On Monday, November 2, we invite you to join us for All Souls' Day Mass, remembering those who have died and to pray for the holy souls of our loved ones.

11:30 Novus Ordo Latin Mass / 12:30 English Mass

Catholicism can seem complicated and confusing, but it doesn't have to be! On Tuesday, October 27th at 7 PM, join us for Stump The Catholic on Zoom, where a wonderful panel of Catholics will be answering your queries and conundrums about the Catholic faith!

We invite you to send us all your questions using the form below! These questions will be anonymous (unless you choose to leave your email). As we cannot guarantee that all questions will be answered at Stump the Catholic (due to time limits), feel free to leave us your contact info so we can follow up with some helpful resources that address your question.

If you'd like the Zoom link and password, drop us a line!

If you have any friends who are curious about the Catholic faith, feel free to share this event with them, along with the link to input their questions. All are welcome! See you on the 27th!

Meet the Flock
Co-MACSA-president Josh is the subject of this week's "Meet the Flock"!

Your name?
Joshua O.
How long have you been a member of our faith community?
For 3 years now, ever since my first year of university.
How did you choose Canadian Martyrs, and what do you like most about being part of this community?
It was the closest parish to the school and is my first home parish. I love the sense that I matter in the community and I can bring about some change, even if it's only saying good morning to someone.
Your favourite food?
Rare N.Y strip steak
Favourite movie or book?
The Screwtape Letters by C.S Lewis
Tell us a boring (or interesting!) fact about you?
On the top left side of my head, I have a patch of white hair, I wasn't born with it, so it is assumed it was caused by a big fall I had growing up.
Look at that expanse of lovely stone!
See more pics on our website of the process if this going up!
We’re embarking on an exciting journey! Throughout the month of November, a group of students will be reading and discussing C.S. Lewis’ “The Great Divorce,” a story that explores the concepts of Heaven and Hell from the perspective of someone travelling from Hell to Heaven. We’re hoping to deepen our understanding of eternal life and gain an eternal perspective on our own lives. Consider picking up this short novel and giving it a read yourself!
