Brace yourselves. In this email we have "ALL THE THINGS!" There's a lot going on in the coming weeks, and while we may say that with almost every Community Update we send, it has never been more true than this week. There are a number of events organized by Canadian Martyrs and our Chaplaincy, but also a few from other organizations that may be of interest. The cause behind this week's "From the Diocese" is especially dear to Sister Mary's heart. Be sure to check it out!

Night Fever

We’re so grateful for each one of you who attended the Night Fever event last Wednesday!

Despite the bad weather, you came out and extended yourselves, so please know that your prayers, the invitation you made, and your witness and joy have already impacted our community in a powerful way.

Our condolences to the Judd family upon the passing of their mother, Irene. We hope that in a small way, our thoughts and prayers help through these trying times. May God give you comfort in your time of grief.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Loving God,
have mercy on your people,
and open our hearts to peace and love.
Reward all who have died for our country,
and grant that Canada and all nations
may continue to work for justice and peace.
Bless us in our service,
and help us to follow your Son, Jesus Christ,
who is our Saviour and our Lord
for ever and ever.

On November 11 at 11:00 am, a member of our community will be in attendance at a gathering to commemorate those names listed on the West Hamilton cenotaph at St. George’s Reformed Episcopal Church, presenting a memorial wreath in remembrance of those who offer their lives in service and defence of our country and freedoms.

Join Father Markus as he delves into the mysteries, movements, and prayers of the Mass. The Mass not only brings us together and Catholics but also transports us into the Life, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus. As a great saint once said (paraphrased), “...if we knew the reality of what takes place in the Mass, we would die, but not of fright, we would die out of love for the gift that is ours”

Any Catholic may perform an emergency baptism, such as if a person is in grave danger of death. In such a case, the validity of the baptism only depends upon the wishes of the person being baptized, that they desire the baptism. There are specific guidelines for such practices that Catholics should follow. Anyone wishing to be prepared for such a case should refer to the catechism for a deeper understanding of this allowance. Generally, such practices ought to be left to trained clergy. Read more about it here!
