Volunteer Ministry Appreciation Event

On Sunday, April 6, we celebrated the many volunteers of our parish community who give so generously of their time and talents in serving our mission here at Canadian Martyrs. At each of the Sunday Masses the volunteers were called forth to receive a special blessing. Following the 11:30 am Sunday Mass, a reception was held in the church hall attended by over 40 of the 60 plus members of the various ministries represented; lectors, sacristans, hospitality team, altar servers, Coffee Sunday team, Children's’ Liturgy, collection counters, Finance Council, collection ushers, care of indoor/outdoor plants, Alpha team.

During the reception, Father Gregory led us in a time of sharing focused on the questions:

  • How does your ministry encouraged your send of belonging to this faith community?

  • What blessings/challenges/encouragement in your faith do you find through your ministry?

As a gesture of appreciation, each volunteer received a lovely plant in a specially decorated pot that showcased the Jubilee logo. It was good to see so many of our volunteers coming together, to enjoy one another’s company and share in the joy of ministry in our parish.

We are grateful for their generous ministry and look forward to having even more of the community volunteer to serve.

“Serve the Lord with gladness…For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever.”
