Pilgrimage to Canadian Martyrs Shrine in Midland

  • Midlands Shrine 16163 Ontario 12 Port McNicoll, ON, L0K 1R0 Canada (map)

🌟 Join Us on a Spiritual Journey to Canadian Martyrs Shrine - Celebrating 60 Years of Faith and Unity! 🌟

We are thrilled to invite you, members of the parish community and students, to embark on a remarkable journey of faith, prayer, and togetherness as we celebrate our 60th anniversary.

The origins of the Canadian Martyrs faith community can be traced back to 1930, to a small chapel situated within the Canadian Martyrs' School. Operating intermittently over the years, our parish found its first permanent leader in Reverend John Noonan, who assumed his role in 1949. By 1951, the construction of the rectory had been finalized.

Subsequently, attention turned to the creation of a church for the Canadian Martyrs' parish. Opting to initially construct a basement-level church, the cornerstone was blessed in November 1952.

The dedication of the completed structure took place on May 23, 1953. Ten years after the basement portion was completed, the final dedication ceremony was performed by Bishop Ryan to celebrate the completion of the main church on September 22, 1963.

This special occasion calls for a return to the traditional ways of expressing our faith, and what better way to do so than through a pilgrimage to the Canadian Martyrs Shrine in Midland, Ontario?

It will be a great opportunity to pray through the intercession of Canadian Martyrs - to thank the Lord for 60 years of our community and to ask for his blessing for the next years.
