Holy Thursday marks the beginning of the Easter Triduum. The Holy Thursday service commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with his disciples before his crucifixion, where he instituted the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. During the service, the priest performs the washing of the feet, an act of humility and service, symbolizing Jesus washing the feet of his disciples at the Last Supper. The Holy Thursday service also includes the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, where the Eucharist is placed in a special repository, and the faithful offer prayers and devotion. The service ends with the procession of the Blessed Sacrament to the Altar of Repose, where the Eucharist remains until the Good Friday service.
