World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests

The World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests is an annual observance in the Catholic Church that takes place on the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, which falls on June 7, 2024. Its purpose is to encourage priests to reflect on the dignity of their vocation and renew their priestly commitment to serving Christ and His Church.

Quote

Be close to your priests with affection and with your prayers, that they may always be shepherds according to God’s heart. And pray for those whom God is calling to be priests that they may respond to this call with humility and joy.

Pope Francis

It also invites the faithful to pray for their priests, that they may be faithful stewards and strengthened in their service to the Gospel. We can observe this day by offering special prayers for the sanctification of priests, praying for seminarians, and praying for an increase in vocations to the priesthood. We can also express gratitude and support for the priests who serve our parish communities, acknowledging the challenges they face in carrying out their ministry.
