Bittersweet!
The old rectory has been demolished, and it has been bittersweet. Many people have very fond memories of time spent there, and are saddened at the loss of the building, but at the same time, we are excited for the new space that will be going up!
Father Markus notes that its especially auspicious timing that the demolition took place on December 12th, the day of Our Lady of Guadalupe!
“I felt particularly confirmed in the project as it moves forward, as this first major step took place on the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the America’s. In a special way she was the one to reveal God’s desire to be known and shared in this ‘new land.’ We enter into this project and our ministry here at McMaster with the same desire, to reach out to the young people, like Juan Diego, to consecrate and lead them to God’s love and presence in their lives. Here a church is being built, as our Lady instructed Juan Diego; most importantly, the people of God, the living stones; and so vital for our ministry, the physical stones of this new Student Centre and facilities.”
